The BIOFAB aims to build a collection of intrinsic transcriptional terminators that exhibit three general properties. The terminator collection engineered by the BIOFAB should encompass a spectrum, or wide range, of termination efficiencies. The terminator collection should be composable, meaning that multiple terminators (of equivalent or different efficiencies) will not exhibit any emergent behavior (e.g., interference or recombination) when located in close proximity to one another. Finally, the behavior of each terminator in the collection should be measured across a range of operating contexts, such that changes in terminator behavior with respect to changes in context (e.g., environmental or genetic) are mapped. This forum asks for community input on what terminators are most desired.
